Caravel Pendant

Emeralds, gold, enamel

This pendant is rightly considered to be one of the finest items of jewellery in the Hermitage collection. The base of the caravel consists of a magnificent transparent emerald of deep green colour. The sail and cross are also made of emeralds. This item is astonishing not only for the jeweller's skill in working with precious stones but also for his virtuoso chasing on gold.
