Watches of a Swiss quality with Russian prices ! Poljot watches are manufactured by the First Moscow
Watch Factory (1st MWF). The 1st MWF was a pioneer in Soviet watch
production and in today Russia, it still holds leading positions
in development of mechanical and quartz watches.
The factory was founded on October 1, 1930. It started
as a small workshop that made only pocket watches and has grown
into a modern enterprise putting out a broad variety of production
from quartz wristwatches to special precision instruments for space-system
engineering, aviation and fleet.
On the 12th of April 1961 the first cosmonaut Juri
Gagarin took the wristwatch "Shturmanskie" into the space during
his historical flight. The watch passed the "space test" perfectly.
To mark the occasion of the Soviet Cosmonauts' first space flight
the First Moscow Watch Factory began to produce wristwatches called
"Poljot" ("Poljot" means "Flight" in Russian). Since that time "Poljot"
became the trademark of the 1st MWF.
In the recent years the factory has paid much attention
to the make-up and design of the watches and also to the extension
of their variety. One of the important marks in the modern factory
development was a purchase of equipment set from the Swiss firm
"Willemin-Macodel" and the factory specialists' training in Switzerland.
It has made it possible for the 1st MWF to considerably improve
design and consumers' qualities of watches. In 1992 and 1993 the
factory was awarded with prestigious "XX Golden Trophy For Quality"
and "XXI International Trophy For Quality". It is the only watch
manufacturer in all the countries of ex-USSR that develops its own
watch models and movements. Even in Switzerland, the recognized
leader in the production of qualitative watches, very few producers
remain making their own watch movements. Usually companies buy famous
Valjoux, Eta, Lemania etc., and build them in their cases. Development
and production of its own movements makes it possible for the 1st
MWF to control the production cycle completely and to put out really
unique and qualitative watches. |
