This is an anthropomorphic carved figure of a nude male with a large head, sloping shoulders and small waist. The face has protruding lips, a curved nose and deep set eyes and the surface is polished. It was discovered during excavation of an ancient settlement in a peat bog. Of all the anthropomorphic figures found in the forest area of the European part of Russia, this example is particularly notable for its skillful execution and naturalistic treatment.
