This kolokoltsevskaya shawl (made at the A. D. Kolokoltsev workshop) is a fine complement to the no less splendid high-waisted dress. Such smart shawls and scarves with two-sided weaving were made from the very fine hair of a mountain goat and were produced at landlord's workshops in the Penza, Saratov, and Nizhny Novgorod Provinces. One of the Kolokoltsev workshop's shawls won a gold medal at the St. Petersburg Textiles Show in 1829. This workshop produced some of the most expensive articles available in Russia and its scarves were very popular as a supplement to an evening dress.
