



St George's Day in the Hermitage
On December 9, 1998, St George's Day, members of the Hermitage staff were presented with state awards of France and the Russian Federation. The ceremony was held in the St George Hall (Large Throne Hall) of the Winter Palace.
For services to the country, valuable contributions to the consolidation of friendship and collaboration between peoples, and the development of culture and the sciences, the following individuals were presented with honours by a decree of the President of the Russian Federation:
Order of Honour:
Yury Dyukov - Curator, Numismatic Department
Anatoly Ivanov - Head of the Oriental Department
Vladimir Kashcheev - Team-leader of cabinet-makers, Special Restoration Research Workshops
Yevgenia Shchukina - Curator and Head of Sector, Numismatic Department
Medal of the Order For Services to the Homeland, Second Class:
Zinaida Chichkova - Head of sector, Department of Museum Attendants.
For the development of culture and art and many years of dedicated work, honorary titles were given to the following individuals:

Nina Biryukova - Curator, Head of Sector, Department of Western European Art
Alexei Bryantsev - Painter and restorer, Laboratory for the Restoration of Easel Painting
Irina Kureeva - Head of the School Center, Education Department
Irina Linnik - Curator, Department of Western European Art
Irina Ukhanova - Curator, Head of Sector, Department of Russian Culture
Honoured Builder of the Russian Federation:
Richard Dunin - Deputy Director, Capital Construction
The Director of the Hermitage Museum, Professor Mikhail Piotrovsky, was presented with the Order of the Legion of Honour (France).
