Presentation of the book of A.A.Trubnikov From the Imperial Hermitage to the Flea Market
The first edition of the memoirs of A.A.Trubnikov (1882 - 1966) was published in Paris in 1935 in the French language. The present edition published by the journal Nashe Nasledie (Our Heritage) (Moscow, 1999) is his first book published in Russia after the revolution.
A.A.Trubnikov is one of the founders of the journal Starye Gody (Old Times ) and a contributor of the journal Apollo. He wrote articles on the history of art under the pen-name of Alexander Trofimov and worked in the Picture Gallery of the Hermitage from 1908 till 1917. Apart from the book there are materials from the Archives of the State Hermitage on display - photos and letters of A.A.Trubnikov to his colleagues from the Hermitage, collection of books from the Scientific library of the Hermitage. Among them one can find works of A.A.Trubnikov My Italy (S-Pb, 1908), Do you remember... (S-Pb, 1906) and reprints from the journals Starye Gody (1906 - 1916). In the Department of Rare Books of the Scientific library of the Hermitage there are some books of 17th century bought by Trubnikov when he was travelling in Italy.
