The main bridges over the Neva and the Nevka rivers open at the following hours of the night between April and November (depending on ice and weather) to allow ships to pass. This can cause major problem trying to get home across the rivers late at night. On the public holidays of 1^st and 2^nd May, 7^th and 8^th November, the bridges are not raised.
